Our predictions use a comprehensive rating system that analyzes team performance across multiple factors. All statistics are normalized per game to ensure fair comparisons between teams that have played different numbers of games.

📊 Base Rating (Per-Game Statistics)

Offensive Score

➕ Touchdowns: All TDs (passing + rushing + receiving) × 2.5 per game
➕ Yards: (Receiving yards + Rushing yards) ÷ 50 per game
➕ Receptions: Receptions × 0.12 per game
➕ QB Completion %: Completion percentage × 0.02 (e.g., 70% = +1.4 points)
➕ QB Completions: Completions × 0.1 per game (rewards volume)
➖ Drops: Drops × 0.25 per game (penalty)
➖ QB Interceptions: QB INTs × 0.9 per game (penalty)

Defensive Score

➕ Sacks: Sacks × 0.7 per game
➕ Defensive Interceptions: Def INTs × 0.9 per game
➕ Passes Broken Up: BKP × 0.35 per game
➕ Tackles: Tackles × 0.04 per game

🏆 Performance Boosts

📈 Win/Loss Record: Teams with better records get a boost (up to +2.5 for undefeated teams)
🔥 Recent Form: Performance in last 3 games adds momentum (up to +1.5 for hot teams)
⚖️ Points Differential: Average points scored vs. allowed per game (balanced teams score higher)

📏 Spread Calculation

The point spread is calculated from the difference between the two teams' final ratings:

• Uses square root compression to create tighter, more realistic spreads
• Spreads range from 0.5 to 6.0 points
• Rounded to the nearest 0.5 for Vegas-style accuracy
• If teams are very close (within 0.5 rating), it's marked as "Pick'em"
